Swamp Dwelling Writer

Madeline Rotolo is a Louisiana-based writer and poet. She holds a B.A. and M.A. in English from The University of Louisiana at Lafayette and is the author of BOTTOMLANDS (Belle Point Press, 2023). She lives and eats in Louisiana.

Her work engages landscape, memory, and the emotional textures of living in such a muddied place. She is particularly interested in how place shapes language, identity, and culture.

Poems of hers have appeared in journals including Bayou Magazine, EcoTheo, Sussurrus Magazine, and Tilted House. Her debut collection, BOTTOMLANDS (Belle Point Press, 2023), explores the ecological and cultural tensions of the Gulf South.

In addition to her creative work, she works as a technical writer. But mostly, she’s a swampy lady doing life with her beloved husband and raising their son together. The poems can be found scattered throughout their home.
